The exhibition, A genesis for Peace, by Costa Rican artist Jorge Deredia, was inaugurated with 15 sculptures that make the center of Mexico City a large urban space that promotes metaphors, archetypes and esthetic views.

Rafael Tovar y de Teresa, head of the National Council for Culture and Arts (CONACULTA), announced in the lobby of the Palace of Fine Arts that the exhibition is a result of the state visit by President Enrique Peña Nieto to Costa Rica, where he agreed with the then president Laura Chinchilla, moving these pieces to Mexico, which is now cause for celebration for both nations.

The president of Conaculta said, before a tour conducted from the plaza of the Palace of Fine Arts to the Monument of the Revolution, where the pieces are, that the exhibit is linked with the best of Mexican muralists, whose artists always wanted to make public spaces a meeting place with culture.

The artist Jorge Deredia said, on his behalf, that his works are a dream for many years to get to all Latin America with an inclusive art, which comes into contact with everyone.

“These pieces were born of an idea of peace and what each one brings integrated into their souls: the deep memory of the universe, so I am very grateful to Mexico, that opened the doors of its largest museum which is the city itself”, added the sculptor.

Eduardo Vazquez, secretary of Culture of Mexico City, said that Jimenez Deredia leads us to the origin of life and its genesis, as well as to the ancient symbols of Latin American peoples, with a dialogue of the urban landscape that rescues the essence of art public as an enriching element of human transition.

Meanwhile, Ricardo Salinas Pliego, founder and chairman of the board of Grupo Salinas, celebrated that Mexico is one of the first countries that receive these pieces to create a reflection for peace, in times of great sensitivity on this subject in all nations.

Finally, Maria Cristina Garcia Cepeda, general director of the National Institute of Fine Arts known as INBA, said that this monumental exhibition in the public space is the result of cooperation between institutions, which allowed to install it at dawn, to people's appreciation: Jiménez Deredia. A genesis for peace.
