Second day of activities

Theater theme in the VII Performing Arts Meeting at the Cultural Center, El Bosque

December 10, 2015

The second day of the VII Performing Arts Meeting begins at 16:00 in the Teatro de la Danza (Dance Theater) with the work Extraña (Strange), by Bruja Danza (Witch Dance), a company that focuses its artistic research towards the creation of a unique and innovative language. Its repertoire has in common the need to express themes that involve society and the individual.

Extraña (Strange) is a work that intimately explores the paths of contemporary identity. The current being is heir to a long tradition of identification and surprise at the stereotypes of oneself and what we identify as the other. The faces of identity are controversial and multifaceted; the experience is shared through immediate ways of information and dissemination.

Meanwhile, the Compañía de Danza Experimental Lola Lince (Lola Lince Experimental Dance Company) presents the work, Fragmentos sobre el sueño, fragmento III: El sueño (Dream fragments, fragment III: The Dream) in Teatro de la Danza (Dance Theatre) at 16:40 h.

This company was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, in 1992. Since then it favors experimentation as the detonator of the creative process and the meeting of a voice. Its work is based on the search for inner freedom and spirituality, not without a deep commitment and an absolute rigour.

This work is the result of an investigation of analogies and symbols that arise in dreams, where, in the words of the philosopher Maria Zambrano, "the spirit of the dreamer looks like a system upon which exterior forces and time nullify or do not work, and brings us back to the primary manifestation of life ".

The actors group, Nadda presents the play, Siete billones de habitantes y yo sigo teniendo frío (Seven billion people and I still have cold) at El Granero (The Barn) Theater at 16:00 h. Being students of the Centro Universitario de Teatro de la UNAM (Theater University Center of the UNAM), five young men wanted to make a play, but did not know what to talk about and finally came to the conclusion that they felt deeply alone.

Siete billones de habitantes y yo sigo teniendo frío (Seven billion people and I still have cold) is a staging that is inserted into the personal universe of five individuals to tell stories and address issues that belong to us all: abandonment, rejection, anxiety, addiction and lack of origin. The actors ask the audience: why do we feel lonely? and to find a response, dynamics arise that lead to extraordinary events highly revealing.

El Beso (The Kiss), a play of five actors and a piano that mixes physical theatre with documentary records, exploring what is behind the unfathomable act of gathering mouths is presented at 18:00 h in the Teatro El Galeón (The Galleon Theater)

The actors of the group Todas las fiestas del mañana y el público (All Tomorrow's Parties and the public), limited to 25 people, sit around an eight meters piano in a complete privacy atmosphere to share the story with a cup of tea. They take as their starting point the story by Anton Chekhov- which tells the story of an army officer whose life is transformed when receiving a kiss accidentally-, we enter the world of the militia to explore how something so fragile, how a kiss, can change your existence.

Patricio Hidalgo and El Afrojarocho offer a concert in the Teatro de la Orientación (Orientation Theater) at 18:00 h about the roots of Veracruz fandango. They exhibit the strong African presence in the jarocha* culture through compositions by Patricio Hidalgo, poetry and dance.

Patricio Hidalgo, with over 20 years of experience in the work of the jarocho son*, which has toured four continents, founded the group named after him, in 2008. They recorded El regreso de la conga (The return of the conga) in 2011, with which they aimed to recover this musical genre that historically comes from the musical heritage of southern Veracruz.

The band, Troker, closes their artistic presentations of the day with the Claroscuro (Chiaroscuro) at 18:40 hours in Teatro de la Orientación (Orientation Theater)

This show is a unique, fun, filled of energy musical journey from their fourth album: Crimen Sonoro (Sound Crime), which was released in 2014. The compositions intertwined in a delicate and motivating way, leading to intense moments proposed to enjoy a true fusion of genres: jazz, rock and funk, with a Mexican touch.
